B.A (HONS)
LOGISTICS & SUPPLY CHAIN MANAGEMENT:
Bachelor of Arts (Honours) Logistics and Supply Chain Management
studies the whole field of supply chain management, including buying,
inventory control, supplier development, customer service, logistics and
distribution, and encourages the development of functional expertise and
skills as well as the understanding of the strategic significance of the
supply chain philosophy.
The programme contains core units on strategic analysis, logistics, purchasing
and procurement, warehousing and inventory management, distribution strategy,
and information technology.
“Surprisingly, many people currently working in the supply chain field have
never had the advantage of a formal logistics or supply chain focused
education. Some are new to their jobs while others may be experienced in one
individual area with little exposure to the rest of the supply chain.
Much has been done for the logistics industry in Singapore towards the
promotion and development of a full range of logistics capabilities to support
manufacturing and business services through third party logistics providers,
chemical logistics companies and electronic distributors. There is a high
demand for value added logistics services both in Singapore and the region.
The industry has moved from simply just basis needs such as supplying
transportation and warehousing to providing total integrated logistics
solutions. Specialists with good training and education in the area of
logistics will be required to fuel this competitive growth.”
